I can’t say exactly what your problem is, but I would do a couple of things and then just call apple. First i would hold down the menu and center buttons on the ipod til it switches off, then bring it back up and see if it works. Then I would reformat it using either itunes or disk utility- then re-initialize it and add my music back on. If neither of those works, then all I can say is i hope you have applecare.
